International Abilympics 2021 / Moscow

The first International Abilympics was held in Tokyo in 1981 to commemorate the International Year of Disabled Persons by the United Nations. The competition has been held approximately every four years since. In total, Japan has sent 500 competitors and personnel to the last nine competitions.

The National Abilympics is a competition for people with disabilities to showcase the skills that they have cultivated at their workplace. In addition to improving the skills that they have cultivated, the competition also aims to promote their employment by raising the understanding and awareness of companies and the general public with regard to the employment of people with disabilities. Those who performed well are given the opportunity to take part in the final test and participate in the International Abilympics.
